Hong Kong Disney

Yesterdady was a fun and exhausting day!  We left the hotel at 9:30 am for our shuttle to Disney Land and they picked us back up at 9:30 last night.  It was an exhausting day and we fell into bed when we got home.  I am sure you can imagine what happens when your 5 year old is up at 3 am and then you go to Disney Land for the day.  Yep, you guessed it, complete exhaustion.  Poor guy literally slept through half of Disney.... :(   It was also extremely HOT and extremely HUMID yesterday.  It rained in the morning which was kinda nice until it ended.  The lines were very long and we waited over 40 minutes for some of the rides in the extreme heat.  I have never been to Disney in the US but I hear they have fast passes.  Well, they have those here but only for 3 rides.  Space Mountain was one of them which was Jason and I's favorite... Tai however screamed and cried...so we didn't do that again.  I actually think he would have liked it had it not been so tired.  The other ride which was the favorite of the day was the Buzz Lightyear where you shoot the guns.  Oh, Tai LOVED it!  We promised we would take him back after we did some other rides, but of course he fell asleep.  The other fast pass ride was broken and so we spent a lot of time in lines.  We did see some shows and the parade which were great!  And the air conditioning was delightful!!!!  We did not see any characters b/c the lines were so long and honestly Tai didn't care too much.  We thought the actors/characters were funny b/c they were all chinese.  Except the princess's, they were all white.  So Tai fell asleep at 6 pm and we tried and tried but could not wake him up.  So thankful for the stroller!!!!  We just wandered around, half zombie like, until the shuttle picked us up.  Our poor friends had to carry their 7 yo daughter around... :(  So in the end, we had a good time, but hindsight, we probably should not have gone.  The time change is very hard on a 5 yo coupled with the heat and humidity did make for a long day.

The one thing we forgot about China and were quickly reminded of yesterday was how "forceful" the chinese are.  They literally push and elbow to get around you, they are very abrupt.  For example, waiting in the lines for rides, they just walk right past you.  We had to have a death grip on our son. Seriously, and they do not care who they trample over.  When the doors open for the shows it is seriously like a stampede!  We encountered 2 yes only 2 people that were nice enough to make sure we were with our son. Otherwise, they just push you out of the way.  That is one thing about China that we will not miss!!!  On the other hand, we find the people to be beautiful, esp the children!  OK, we may be a bit biased, but we really do think China has the most beautiful children.  All day Jason and I were mesmerized by them!  Everytime we turned around we saw one cuter than the last one.  At one point, Jason says to me " we are still approved for two, right?", I smiled and said yes were are (as Jason had this gleam in his eye).  This coming from the guy last week as we are packing and writing massive checks and draining all our savings that said "we are done!"  Soooooooo we will just see!
When we got back last night, we forced Tai to wake up and take some melatonin.  It worked and he slept until 8 am!!!!!!  Oh happy day!!!!  So we are all well rested and have spent the morning relaxing in the hotel room.  We are headed to lunch now and the shuttle will get us at 1:15 for our 5 pm flight to Nanning.  This is where we meet our girl!!!!!  We get her tommorrow afternoon at 2:30 pm, which is 2:30 in the AM for most of you.
We have had a fun time in Hong Kong on our last adventure as a family of 3 but we are now VERY ready to get our girl!!!!!!!

  1. So it is 11:00 pm here as i am reading your blog to the boys ( every night they ask if you have Ali yet ) so that means 3.5 hours till you have that precious girl in your arms. I'm so excited and anoixous for all of you. I know it's going to be a big adjustment for everyone but it will all be worth it.
Sounds like Disney was fun but exhausting, I'm sad you didn't have that magical experience you all so deserve when you go to Disney. Maybe in a few years you can try again with both the kids ( maybe in the winter and a closer time zone;)!
You have been in my thoughts a lot and I can't wait to see a new family pic.

  6. That's a crazy Disney schedule even without jetlag! I'll bet after a while Tai only remembers the fun he had! Just one more sleep until Alice!!!! By my calculation, it's 8pm in China, so you're probably settled into the hotel, trying to calm yourselves down and get some sleep. Just a little while longer. Hang in there!!!

    Love you!
